Lawrence Bender Creates Films of Fictions and Non-Fiction

As a film producer, Lawrence Bender has seen a large quantity of success, but this was not always what he had in mind for a career. His original intentions, upon attending the University of Maine, was to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps by becoming a civil engineer. Even though he earned his degree, these plans didn’t work out.

Movie-goers should be thrilled in knowing that Lawrence Bender didn’t become a civil engineer. Without Lawrence Bender, movies like Kill Bill, Good Will Hunting, and Pulp Fiction would not exist. Bender has worked with some of the greatest names in Hollywood, both actors and directors, such as Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino, Matt Damon, and Tim Roth.

Earthsea

Lawrence Bender has also produced documentaries and television series. One of the television shows produced by Bender was Earthsea, a miniseries produced for SyFi Network.

The original Earthsea is a series of novels created by Ursula K. Le Guin. The television adaptation was a two-part, two-night event. Earthsea is set in a high fantasy, medieval setting and follows a young man named Ged.

Ged lives in a time of peril. A tyrant named King Tygath is plotting to release the Nameless Ones, a group of demons that may hold the secret to immortality. Ged later learns that he is the subject of a prophecy, and he is a wizard. Ged is taught a spell from an old woman and uses it to save his village.

Ged eventually meets a few fellow heroes, and they team up to stop the release of the Nameless Ones. Ged and his group of comrades are not successful, and Tygath releases the demons, flying off with them into the sky. It is around this time that Ged realizes the secret to defeating them. Ged takes two peaces of an amulet and combines them, creating The Amulet of Peace, banishing the Nameless Ones yet again.

An Inconvenient Truth

This is a documentary produced by Lawrence Bender about global warming and climate change. The movie features the thoughts and ideas of Al Gore in regards to the important issue of global warming.

Bender also produced a less popular sequel to the documentary that talked about the dangers of nuclear war.
